Supan '13 Named Track and Field Throws Coach

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Coordinator of Cross Country/Track and Field and Head Track and Field Coach Matthew Cole has announced the hiring of Mitch Supan '13 as the team's throws coach.

"We are extremely excited to have Mitch join our staff and back at BW," stated Cole.  "We believe in Mitch to assistant in the continuation of our programs prowess towards Ohio Athletic Conference and national level success, while maintaining our team first atmosphere."

Supan returns to his alma mater after serving the past three years as the Assistant Director of Performance at E.L.I.T.E. Training Performance.  He has also spent the past four years as an independent throws coach working with high school throwers.

"I called BW home for four years as a student-athlete," commented Supan.  "I'm so excited to be back and have an opportunity to be a part of the culture that the coaches and athletes have created.  I can't wait to advance the success that the Track and Field and Cross Country teams have had over the last few years.  I'm proud to be a Yellow Jacket again.  YJ4L!"

Supan, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in exercise science, was a three-time NCAA Division III All-American in the discus and a four-year letterwinner.  He was a two-time OAC Champion in the discus and the OAC Champion in the hammer throw as a junior.   Supan is the school-record holder in the discus, outdoor shot put and the weight throw.  He was named the Kenneth Steingass Most Outstanding Senior Male Athlete, the Paul "Sparky" Adams Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the 2012 OAC Outdoor Championships and a seven-time OAC Male Field Athlete of the Week.  Supan was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was one of two Yellow Jacket athletes selected to attend the National Collegiate Athletic Association Leadership Forum. 

In addition to his success at BW, he was a Junior United States of America Track and Field hammer and discus qualifier in 2010.

Supan, a native of Medina and a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School, is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  He resides in Berea.
