Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Team Finishes Third at Centre (Ky.) Invitational

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished third at the Centre (Ky.) College Invitational inside Farris Stadium.

BW women placed third of 16 teams with 88 points. The Ohio Northern University women won the invitational with 168 points. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) and freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) as they each won events. Armstrong won the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best finish of 15.49 seconds and also finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 1:11.48. Brennan won the 800-meter run with a time of career-best time of 2:16.87.

In other field events, senior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) finished third in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 35 feet 1.75 inches and fifth the long jump with a leap of 16'9.25''. In the discus event senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) placed second with a mark of 133'10'', freshman Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished third with a career-best toss of 132'2'' and freshman Breeanna Karam (Dover) finished eighth with a career-best throw of 103'6''. In the hammer event junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) placed second with a toss of 148' 6'', senior Natasha Thomas (Cleveland/Holy Name) finished sixth with a season-best mark of 136'5'' and Buckhannon earned a 10th place finish with a throw of 132'4''. . In the shot put, Clouse placed third with a toss of 40'9.75'', freshman Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville- Broadview Heights) finished eighth with a mark of 36' 1.5'' and Buckhannon finished 10th with a toss of 34'11.25''.  Junior thrower Madison Phillips (Norwalk/St. Paul) also placed fifth in the javelin throw with a career-best throw of 101'8''. In addition, sophomore pole vaulter Abby Weagraff finished sixth with a vault of 9'2.25''.

In the other running events, freshman distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) placed third in the 10,000-meter run with a career-best time of 37:59.50. Along with Brennan in the 800-meter run, freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) finished ninth with a finish of 2:26.89.  Sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) finished ninth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.99 seconds and 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.65 seconds.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 8 when it travels to Alliance for the John Homon Open hosted by University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.
