Richard "Dick" Guy Scott '68 graduated from BW in 1968 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1983.

Dick was named B-W's Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1968.  His many honors at B-W included 11 varsity letters, four each in cross country and basketball and three in track.

For four seasons Dick starred on the cross country team, setting, as a freshman, the school's four-mile course record at 21:17.  The record still stands today even though the event is no longer run in competition.

On the basketball court, he excelled for three seasons.  In his second year, he finished as the team's MVP and the leading college scorer in the Cleveland area.  In the season opener against Denison his senior year, he suffered a knee injury which kept him from his regular spot on the team.  Seeing only limited action that season, Dick still finished his career as B-W's tenth highest all-time scorer with 1,116 points (still stands 24th overall today).  The knee injury also kept him from competing on the track team for his fourth season.

For 12 years after graduation, Dick coached the Bay High School cross country team, taking his teams to State Championships ten times.  A losing program before his arrival, the team, under his direction, posted a 97-3 dual meet record, claimed 11 straight Southwestern Conference titles, and took Class AAA sectional honors eight times.

Dick and his wife, Lanalee, both taught and coached at Bay.  Dick was assistant basketball, and Lanalee handled the women's cross country squad.  They reside in Bay Village with their two children, Heather and Ryan.
