Larry K. Van Dusen was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2003.

Van Dusen has left his mark as a professor of health and physical education at B-W, but also as a football coach.  He spent 28 years on  the Jacket coaching staff; 26 as defensive line and special teams coordinator and, most recently, two years as defensive coordinator. 

During his time as coach, the football team logged 217 wins, 63 losses, and 2 ties, 11 OAC Championships, five national playoff berths, and the 1978 Division III National Championship title.  Larry coached 101 All-OAC defensive or special team players, of which 54 were All-Americans and eight were Most Valuable Players of the OAC.  He was named OAC Co-Coach of the Year in 1989 and has won B-W’s Faculty Excellence and Bechberger awards.

A graduate of Northwestern University, he also holds a master’s degree from Kent State University in 1966.   He began his coaching career at B-W in 1961, then went on to other universities before returning to B-W in 1976.  Larry made an impact on students by speaking about important life issues.  He retired from teaching and coaching at the end of the 2002-2003 academic year.
