John R. Gregory '64 graduated from BW in 1964 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1994.

Gregory was an outstanding football player and track athlete at Baldwin-Wallace College. During his Yellow Jacket career, Gregory was a part of a nationally renown program in each sport, was drafted professionally in football and was a leader in track as a sprinter, hurdler and relay runner.

A native of Toledo, Gregory played four years of football at B-W and was a three-year letterwinner as a starting defensive end. Gregory also served as a Yellow Jacket co-captain in 1962.

In 1962, Gregory was named first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and was chosen for the Small College National All-Star Gem Bowl. Gregory additionally was named to the All-Ohio University Division first-team. Gregory was later drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 1963 National Football League draft.

In track, Gregory participated for four years and earned three varsity letters. Gregory also was a team captain in 1963.

In 1962, Gregory was the co-holder of the OAC 55-meter low hurdles record with a time of 6.5 seconds. In addition, Gregory posted times of 9.8 seconds in the 100-yard dash and 21.0 in the 220-yard dash. At the 1962 NCAA University Division national championship meet, Gregory placed second in the 220-yard dash and in the 440-yard hurdles and was a member of the winning 4 x 400-yard relay team. In 1963, Gregory earned the B-W Outstanding Track Man of the Year.

On campus, Gregory was a member of the Phi Lambda Phi fraternity and was a leading member of the Interfraternity Council.

Since graduation, Gregory was done master's degree work at the University of Michigan and has worked for the General Motors (1965-68), Owens of Illinois (1968-76), the Dana Corporation (1976-1991) and currently is the vice president of operations for TFE, Inc. of Hilliard.

Gregory resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, with his wife and their two boys.
