Norbert E. Hecker '55 graduated from BW in 1955 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1966.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Noll has earned six National Football League championships rings. But that pales to the eight earned by former Baldwin-Wallace College standout Norb Hecker.

Hecker not only has "one for the thumb," but enough for three fingers on his other hand. "I've already been a trivia answer on a quiz show," said Hecker.

Noll earned four rings as a coach of the Steelers and two as a player with the Browns.

Hecker, who earned Little All-American honors before he graduated from BW in 1951, earned his first championship ring in 1951 as a member of the NFL champion Los Angeles Rams. He earned three as an assistant coach to the late Vince Lombardi at Green Bay and four more as an aide with San Francisco.

Hecker,  a member of the BW Athletic Hall of Fame, retired in March after 40 years in professional football as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

"I have a lot of good memories from my days at BW and a lot of them are of games against John Carroll."
