John A. Moore '58 graduated from BW in 1958 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1983.

John began his B-W athletic record as recipient of the Outstanding Freshman Player Award in football and continued his successful career through recognition as Outstanding Athlete his senior year.

John, captain of the football team his senior year, received honors as the Cleveland Area College Player of the Year from the Cleveland Touchdown Club. A four-year letterman, he was named to both the All-OAC and All-Ohio Teams as offensive and defensive tackle.

Following graduation, he received tryouts with both the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. John went to Medina High School, where he soon became head football and track coach. In 1965, he resigned his post to accept the U.S. State Department's and Sports International's offer to coach track and field in Libya. In the Mid East, he worked with the Libyan National Olympic Committee, coordinating its three-year-old track and field program and coaching the team.

John returned to Ohio and earned his master's degree from the University of Akron in 1968. He was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Toledo in 1974. John worked with the United States Navy as Education Executive Coordinator for eight states.
