Three Women’s Tennis Players Selected as All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO --
Senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) and juniors Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) and Danielle Rueger (Ashland) have been selected today (Tuesday, May 15, 2012) as All-Ohio Athletic Conference players.  Greene was tabbed as a second-team selection and Mittler and Rueger each earned honorable mention honors.


Greene earns her fourth straight second-team honor.  This season, she posted an overall record of 11-13 and split time between the number one and No.2 singles position, including a 5-3 record in OAC play.  Greene teamed with Rueger in doubles action to post a record of 7-3. For her career, she has compiled an overall recorded of  56-48 in singles play and a 60-51 mark in doubles action.  The 56 singles wins ranks sixth all-time in school history and her 60 doubles victories ranks seventh all-time.    


Mittler earns her third All-OAC accolade after being selected to the first-team a year ago and to the second-team as a freshman.  She had an overall mark of 12-12 this season as she also split time between the No.1 and No.2 singles position, including a mark of 7-2 at second singles.  Mittler partnered with sophomore Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and had a mark of 9-14 at No.1 doubles.  In three seasons, she has tallied an overall record of 43-34 in singles and 47-35 in doubles. The 43 singles wins ranks 18th and the 47 doubles wins ranks 15th.


Rueger is making her first appearance on the All-OAC team.  She posted a record of 13-13 overall at number three, four and five singles, including a mark of 10-7 at number four.   In three years, Rueger has a career-record of 20-16 in singles play and 14-14 in doubles action.


The Yellow Jackets finished the 2012 season with a record of 9-14 overall record.  Four of the past six years, the B-W women have won the OAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.  Veteran Head Coach Jack Bethlenfalvy is the winningest women's tennis coach in both OAC and Ohio collegiate history and has a 323-213 career mark after 28 seasons.
