OBERLIN, OHIO --  The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin-Wallace College women's tennis team competed in the Oberlin College Fall Invitational on Friday-Sunday, September 16-18.   Eight singles players and four doubles teams took part in the invitational.  

In singles play, junior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) led the Yellow Jackets with three match wins over Emily Fuller of Oberlin (6-1 and 6-1), Abagail Svetlak of Walsh (6-2, 6-0) and Allison Mora of John Carroll (6-1 and 6-4).   Freshman Rachel Bertrand (Avon) and senior Emily Brown (Vermilion) each won two matches. 

Bertrand defeated Allison Mora of John Carroll (6-3, 7-5) and Rebeka Beresh of Walsh (6-0 and 6-1) and Brown notched victories against Mora of John Carroll (6-0 and 6-4) and Fuller of Oberlin (6-4 and 6-3).

In addition, B-W got single victories from senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), juniors Anna Callahan (Williamsville, N.Y. /Clarence Central) and Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomores Morgan Baker (Vermilion /Elyria Catholic) and Whitney Yoder (Medina). 

In doubles action, the Yellow Jackets picked up two victories.  The team of sophomore Yoder and Greene defeated the duo of Morgan Hertik and Angie Korpusik of Case Western by a score of 8-4 and the duo of Rueger and Bertrand defeated the team of Jenny Provost and Allison Talbert of Ohio Northern, 8-3.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this  Friday, September 23 when they host Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at the "Pop" Collins Courts at 4:30 p.m.
