BEREA, OHIO --  The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin-Wallace College women's tennis beat host Capital University, 8-1, today (Wednesday, April 11, 2012) at the Capital Tennis Courts in Bexley. The Yellow Jackets have won three of their past four matches.

With its victory, B-W is now 7-10 overall and 2-2 in the OAC. Capital dropped to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. 

B-W gained an early 2-1 lead after the doubles competition and won all six singles matches to capture its seventh victory.

In doubles action, the number two tandem of senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) and junior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) won by a 8-1 score and the No.3. duo of sophomore Whitney Yoder (Medina) and senior Emily Brown (Vermilion) won by an 8-2 score.

In singles play, junior No.1 player Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) won by the scores of 6-1 and 6-1, Greene won at No.2 by the scores of 6-2 and 6-1, sophomore Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) won at No.3 by the scores of 6-2 and 6-1, Rueger won at No.4. by the scores of 6-1 and 6-2, Yoder won at No.5 by the scores of 7-5 and 6-2 and freshman Rachel Bertrand (Avon) won at No.6 in a three-set match with the scores of 6-1, 6-7 (1-7) and 10-4.

This season, Rueger tops the Yellow Jackets in victories with 11 and is 11-10 overall, including 8-4 at No.4 and 4-0 against OAC opponents. Greene and Yoder are the top doubles duo at 4-0 overall, including 3-0 in OAC action..
