BEREA, OHIO -- The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin-Wallace College women's tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College, 9-0, today, (Saturday, April 28, 2012) inside the Lou Higgins Center.  The match was moved from the "Pop" Collins Courts to the Higgins Center due to inclement weather. 

With its victory, B-W ends the regular season at 9-13 overall and 4-4 in the OAC and will begin 2012 OAC Tournament play next Tuesday, May 1 at the University of Mount Union at 3:30 p.m. B-W is the No.5-seed. With its loss, Marietta is 1-12 overall and end their season at 0-8 in the OAC. 

B-W gained a 3-0 lead after the doubles competition and won all of the six singles matches to claim the win.

In doubles play, the number one tandem of junior Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) won by an 8-2 score, the No.2 duo of senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) and junior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) won by an 8-1 score and the No.3 team of senior Emily Brown (Vermilion) and junior Anna Callahan (Williamsville, N.Y./ Clarence Central) were victorious by an 8-1 score. 

In singles play, they played in pro-sets. Greene won 8-0 at No.1, Mittler won 8-2 at No.2, Baker won 8-0 at No.3, Rueger won 8-0 at No.4, senior Julie Tuck (Berea) won 8-3 at No.5 and sophomore Elizabeth Keller (Cincinnati/ Walnut Hills) won at No.6 by the scores of 8-6.  

With a win at Mt. Union next Tuesday, B-W would advance to the 2012 OAC Final Four at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The B-W women have won four of the last five OAC Tournament titles and advanced to play in four of the last five NCAA Division III national tournaments.
