Women's Swimming and Diving Start Season With OAC Win Over Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team start the 2022-23 season with a victory over Wilmington College by a final score of 162-42 in the Wilmington Natatorium.

BW (1-0) won all 11 events as it defeated Wilmington by a final score of 162-42. 

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 800-meter freestyle in a time of 10:16.74 and 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:05.53
  • Freshman Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper Saint Clair) won the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2:26.10 and 400-meter freestyle in a time of 5:10.25
  • Senior Aubrey Syron (Dayton / Archbishop Alter) won the 100-meter butterfly in a time of 1:14.98
  • Junior Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2:41.01 and 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:20.66
  • Sophomore All-OAC Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:12.78
  • Junior Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) won the 50-meter freestyle in a time of 29.76

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 200-yard medley squad of Dondorfer, Reed, Slife and sophomore Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) won in a time of 2:14.30
  • The 200-yard freestyle team of freshman Emily Kusar (Perry), Ratino, junior Kate Wells (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills), and Dondorfer won in a time of 2:01.71

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, October 21 when they host Hiram College, Franciscan University of Steubenville and Bluffton University for the BW Fall Duals inside the BW Natatorium at 6 p.m.
