Women's Swimming and Diving Splashes Past Opponents in Hosted Fall Duals

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team claim three victories in the two-day hosted BW Fall Duals in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (4-0) won all 15 events, as it defeated Hiram College by a final score of 256-58, Bluffton University 259-31, and Franciscan University of Steubenville 256-58

Day One:
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Junior Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:11.71
  • Sophomore All-OAC Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:03.71 and 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:19.98
  • Senior Aubrey Syron (Dayton / Archbishop Alter) won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:33.17
  • Sophomore Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.76 seconds
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:49.19

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • In the 200-yard medley relay squad of freshman Morgan Ingalls (Erie, Pa./ Harbor Creek), Reed, junior Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), and Pantoja won in a time of 2:00.46
  • In the 400-yard freestyle team of Dondorfer, Pantoja, Slife and Ratino won in a time of 3:57.69

Day Two:
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Ratino won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:41.58
  • Dondorfer won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:20.31 and 400-yard individual medley in a time of 5:05.59
  • Freshman Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper Saint Clair) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.14
  • Slife won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.57 seconds
  • Syron won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:05.92
  • Reed won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:34.99

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • In the 200-yard medley relay squad of Ratino, Reed, Slife and Dondorfer won in a time of 4:24.99
  • In the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Dondorfer, Slife, Reed, and Pantoja won in a time of 1:48.39

 The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, October 29 has it travels to New York for an non-conferene meet against Buffalo State and Fredonia State in the Kissinger Pool
