Baldwin Wallace Men and Women Swimmers and Divers Each Lose at Allegheny (Pa.) in Final Dual Meet

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving team each lost in dual meet competition to host Allegheny College today (Saturday, January 31, 2009) in Meadville, Pennsylvania. This was the final dual meet of the season prior to BW hosting the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet from Feb. 19-21. 

The men lost to the Gators, 144-98, and the women lost, 121-89. With its loss, the BW men end the dual meet season at 6-4 overall and the women drop to 1-9 overall.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by sophomore two-time NCAA Division III All-American Todd Richert (North Royalton), who won the one and three-meter diving events, and senior distance freestyler Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon), this week's OAC Swimmer of the Week, who won the 1000-meter freestle and placed second in the 500 free.

Richert won the one-meter event with 274.13 points and the 3-meter with 272.12 points. Sonnenberg won the 1000 free in 10:13.73 and was second in the 500 in 5:00.  The Yellow Jacket women did not have an individual winner.

The BW swimmers and divers are back in action on Thursday, February 19 when they host the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet through Saturday, February 21 at the University of Akron.
