BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team stands in first place of six teams and the women are third of five after the second day of the Fredonia State University Blue Devil Invitational in Fredonia, New York. Action concludes on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The Yellow Jacket men have 535 points after two days and the women have scored 264 points.
Highlighting day two for the men was a first-place finish for senior captain Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon) in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.26. Sonnenberg was also victorious on day one in the 1650 free. Sophomore Ryan Musille (Canton/GlenOak) followed suit in the 100-yard freestyle (50.07) as did fellow sophomore Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/Cathedral) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.82).
Sophomores Mike Demitrieff (Parma/Normandy) and Todd Richert (North Royalton) picked up second-place finishes for the Jackets - Demitrieff in the 200 fly (2:06.53) and Richert on the three-meter diving board (439.50).
For the women, freshman Jessica McClarren (Bucyrus/Senior) took second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:25.22.
Following the Fredonia State Meet, the Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers until their annual Winter Break Training Trip to the State of Florida from January 1-11, 2009. While in Florida, BW competes against Florida Southern University on Jan. 10. The next home meet is on Friday, Jan. 16 when BW hosts Cleveland cross-town and non-league rival Case Western Reserve University in the Natatorium of the Lou Higgins Center at 6:00 p.m.
