Baldwin Wallace Swim Teams Split versus Wilmington in Wilmington

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming teams split against Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington College today (Saturday, November 1, 2008) in an OAC dual meet in Wilmington. With its victory, the BW men remained undefeated.

The Yellow Jacket men defeated the Quaker men, 138-63, and the BW women lost to the Wilmington women, 108-92. With its victory, the Yellow Jacket men are now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAC. The BW women are now 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the OAC.

Highlighting the day for the men was triple-winner sophomore Ryan Musille (Canton/Glenoak) and double-winners sophomore Hector Diaz (El Paso, Texas/Cathedral) and senior All-OAC Sean Sonnenberg (Napoleon).  Junior All-OAC Vince Colwell (Parma/Normandy), sophomore Roman Koval (Parma/Padua),sophomore Mike Demitrieff (Parma/Normandy) and Musille were victorious 200-meter medley relay in 1:56.71.   Musille earned his second victory of the day with a time of 26.29 in the 50-free and his final victory in the 100-breaststroke in 1:14.87.  Sonnenberg won the 100-meter free in a time of 56.49 and the 200-meter free in 2:04.80.    Diaz won the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:24.45 and the 400-free in 4:41.55. Sophomore Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/Lakeside) won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:09.64.

In women's action, senior Kate Ritchey (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) won the 50-meter free in a time 30.08 and freshman Danielle Miller (Van Wert) won the 800-meter free in 10:33.98.  Sophomore Kelly Likes (Huron/Sandusky Perkins) took first place in the 100-meter fly in 1:14.52 and senior Kelsie Baker (Dover)had a time of 1:07.69 to place first in the 100-meter free.

The BW swimmers and divers are back in action on Saturday, November 15 when they travel to Washington, Pennsylvania to compete against nonleague foe Washington & Jefferson College at 1:00 p.m. The next home swim meet is on Saturday, Nov. 22 when BW hosts traditional rival Oberlin College in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Recreation Center at 1:00 p.m.
