WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania -- With the Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team's starters participating in the Ohio Duals at the Spire Complex in Geneva, Ohio, the Yellow Jacket backups placed eighth of 15 teams at the Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College Invitational in the Henry Memorial Center.
BW (0-2) was led by freshman 174-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) and sophomore 184-pounder Gabe Mahaney (North Canton) as each placed third in their resective weight class. Arroyo defeated teammate and sophomore transfer 174-pounder Jimmy Sandlin (Carlisle) in the third-fourth place match. Arroyo and Mahaney each had a 4-1 mark and Sandlin was 4-2.
In addition, senior 133-pounder Jake Landers (Liberty Twp./ Lakota East), senior 149-pounder Jaleel Richardson (Copley), junior 174-pounder Kenny Faulkner (Beliot/ West Branch), junior 197-pounder Tyler Keating (Fairview Par/ Fairview) and freshman 185-pounder Landon Blackburn (Laport, Ind./ Laport) each had a 2-2 mark.
The Yellow Jacket wrestlers ae back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 18 when they host cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
