Burke Earns First OAC Wrestler of the Week Honor

BEREA, Ohio --  Baldwin Wallace University freshman 157-pound wrestler Richie Burke (Ithaca, N.Y.) garners his first Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honor for his strong performance last week.

Burke led BW in an OAC dual match against Heidelberg University when he pinned his opponent at the 3:35 mark. The 26-10 victory over the Student Princes gave the Yellow Jackets their first OAC title since 1973.

Burke has an overall record of 23-15 and is 4-0 against OAC competition. This season, Burke has 8 pins, 38 escapes, and leads the team with 75 near falls.

Burke and the 19th-ranked Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Lycoming (Pa.) College inside the Lamade Gym. The regional is a two-day event starting on February 27 at 6 p.m. and will continue on February 28 at 10 a.m.
