Men's Indoor Track and Field Host Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge with Runner-Up Finish

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team host the first home meet of the season, the Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW placed second out of six participating teams with 82 points. University of Mount Union won the meet with 120 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Senior David Russo (DePew, N.Y. / DePew) won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:42.45
  • Senior ShaDaryll Clark II (Brook Park / Berea-Midpark) won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.69 seconds
  • Junior Carter Almady (Brunswick) won the 3000-meter run in a time of 9:05.37
  • Freshmen Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding) placed fifth in the 55-meter run in a time of 6.67 seconds
  • Freshmen Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station) finished second in the 200-meter run in a time of 22.68 seconds and third in the 1-mile run in a time of 4:26.49
  • Freshmen Donovan Birkett (Barbeton / Rootstown) placed seventh in the 400-meter run in a time of 53.48 seconds
  • Sophomore Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) finished seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:04.82

Field events highlighted:

  • Sophomore Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won the high jump with a meet record height of 6' 7"
  • Freshmen Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding) won long jump with a distance of 21' 8¼"
  • Sophomore Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 42' 0¾" and placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 47' 5"
  • Clark placed fourth in triple jump with a mark of 41' 4½"

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x400 meter relay squad of freshmen Drexton Friscone (Columbia Station / Columbia), SikorskiFaggs and junior Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) finish fourth in a time of 3:41.83
  • In the distance medley relay team of junior Jackson Tucker (Akron / Lake Center Christian School), freshmen Brady Wilson (Clyde), senior Lucas Simonetti (Pittsford, N.Y. / Sutherland) and Foody placed second in a time of 11:28.14 

BW returns to the track on Saturday, February 4 when it travels to Angola, Indiana to compete in the Dick Gollnick Invitational, hosted by Trine University in Keith E. Busse inside Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center
