Men’s Indoor Track and Field Finishes Fourth at Home Taraschke Team Challenge

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the home-opening Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW was fourth of five teams with 48 total points while a fellow Ohio Athletic Conference school in the University of Mount Union won the meet with 136 points.

Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) had the best result in the field with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, hitting a mark of 50 feet, 1.25 inches.

On the track, four separate athletes turned in runner-up finishes in their respective events. Junior distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) got things started as he finished second in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 15:48.32. Freshman sprinter/hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) followed suit in the 55-meter hurdle finals with his second-place finish in 7.97 seconds. Sophomore distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) had his runner-up finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:01.13 while freshman distance runner Kyle White (Mount Gilead) placed second in the 3,000-meter run in 9:07.76. Senior Academic All-OAC distance runner Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) also had a third-place finish in the 5,000 in a time of 15:55.62.

In relay action, the freshman group of sprinter LJ Tijerina (Archbold), sprinter/hurdler Alexander Burkhammer (Chardon/Grand Valley), sprinter/jumper Brandon Stevens (Mount Gilead) and Clark continued their early season success with a runner-up finish in the 4x200-meter relay in a time of 1:35.49.m

The Yellow Jackets hit the track again on February 7-8 for the two-day Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide Track Classic at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center. Friday's action begins at 12 p.m.
