WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team opened its 2020 indoor season at the Otterbein Invitational, hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center. Team scores were unavailable.

Today's track events produced two event champions between freshman distance runner Zack Justus (Maineville/Kings), and an all-freshman relay foursome consisting of LJ Tijerina (Archbold), Daniel Kishmarton (Wickliffe), Sherman Lawson (Cleveland/James Ford Rhodes), and ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark). Justus was impressive in his collegiate track debut, claiming the number one spot in the 500-meter dash, with a final time of 1:09.49. Meanwhile, the combined efforts of the four freshmen resulted in the a victory in the 4x200-meter relay, in a winning time of 1:36.67.

Trailing just a smidge behind Justus in the 500-meter dash was freshman sprinter Alex Burkhammer (Chardon/Grand Valley), who placed in second with a time of 1:11.54. Justus was also able to garner a third-place finish in the 1000-meter event, with a time of 2:45.65. Clark rounded out the top-three finishers for BW's track athletes, having clinched for the third position in the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.53.

Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) led the field athletes in today's events, earning second place in the shot put competition with a distance of  51'3¾".

BW will partake in its home-opening meet on Saturday, February 1 for the Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge at 9:00 a.m. in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
