Men’s Tennis Holds Off Wittenberg

DAYTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeated Wittenberg University by a final score of 6-3 inside the Five Seasons Family Sports Club.

BW (4-0) won two doubles matches and four singles matches.  Wittenberg (0-4) won one doubles match and

Doubles

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and sophomore All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) fell to Ethan Libby and Kyle Fout by a score of 8-6
  • Sophomore Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) and Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) defeated Mark Trinka and Henry Smith-Heston by a score of 8-6
  • Junior All-OAC Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and junior Tyler Perkins (Geneva) defeated Jacob Bennett and Andrew Garofoli by a score of 8-5

Singles

  • McGee defeated Libby at first singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-3
  • Horvath defeated Trinka at second singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-4
  • Sophomore Gavin Binni (Sylvania/Northview) fell to Fout at third singles by identical scores of 6-2
  • Junior All-OAC Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) fell to Bennett at fourth singles by scores of 3-6, 6-4 and 2-6
  • Weingart defeated Garofoli at fifth singles by scores of 6-2 and 7-5
  • Harders defeated Smith-Heston at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-2

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tonight when they host a non-conference match against Berea (Ky.) College at the Medical Mutual Tennis Center on the campus of Cleveland State University at 9:30 p.m.
