Men’s Tennis Defeats Mount Union in Rescheduled OAC Match

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeated the University of Mount Union in a rescheduled Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 8-1 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

BW (13-5, 2-2 OAC) and Mount Union (2-3, 1-3 OAC) were originally scheduled to play on April 10, but inclement weather postponed the match until today.

Doubles

  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and sophomore All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) won at first doubles by a score of 8-1
  • Sophomore Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) and Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) won at second doubles by a score of 8-6
  • Junior All-OAC Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and junior Tyler Perkins (Geneva) won third doubles by a score of 8-3

Singles

  • McGee won at first singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Horvath won at second singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0
  • Sophomore Gavin Binni (Sylvania/Northview) fell at third singles by identical scores of 6-3
  • Weingart won at fourth singles by scores of 7-6 (7-5) and 6-3
  • Harders won at fifth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Junior All-OAC Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) won at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-1

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, April 24 when they travel to University Heights for an OAC match against crosstown rival John Carroll University inside the Short Family Tennis Center at 4 p.m.

BW concludes the regular season portion of its schedule on Saturday, April 27 when it hosts an OAC match against Capital University at 11:30 a.m.
