Men’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to NCAA Division I Cleveland State

CLEVELAND – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team was defeated by NCAA Division I Cleveland State in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Cleveland State (1-11) swept all three doubles, and six singles matches over BW (9-3). In NCAA Division I tennis doubles winning team gets one point and not three.

Doubles

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and sophomore All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) fell to Nico Jamison and Andrew Zimcosky at first doubles by a score of 6-0
  • Sophomores Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) and Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) fell to Kade Mindry and Ty Rothchild at second doubles by a score of 6-0
  • Junior All-OAC Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and junior Tyler Perkins (Geneva) fell to Cole Chappel and Austin Staiger at third doubles by a score of 6-0

Singles

  • McGee fell to Carl Gedlitschka at first singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Horvath fell to Chappel at second singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Sophomore Gavin Binni (Sylvania/Northview) fell Zimcosky at third singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
  • Weingart fell JuandeDios Abboud at fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
  • Harders fell to Rothchild at fifth singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Sophomore Joe Donnelly (Lodi/Cloverleaf) fell to Staiger at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-0

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, April 5 when it travels to Erie, Pennsylvania for a non-conference match against Penn State Behrend College at Westwood Racquet Club at 6 p.m.
