BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened the home portion of its spring schedule in impressive fashion as it defeated Thiel (Pa.) College by a final score of 8-1 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts
With the victory, BW improves to 9-2 on the season. With the loss, Thiel falls to 0-3.
Doubles Play (BW, 3-0)
- No. 1 team of junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) won by a final score of 8-1
- No. 2 tandem of freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) and freshman Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) won by a score of 8-1
- No. 3 duo of junior Academic All-OAC performer Mateo Gonzalez (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville South) and Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won by a score of 8-1
Singles Action (BW, 5-1)
- Kernan won by identical scores of 6-0
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) won by scores of 6-3 and 6-1
- Hindman won by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
- Reed won by scores of 6-2 and 6-4
- Kingsley won by scores of 6-1 and 6-4
- Sophomore Shahzeb Malik (Strongsville) fell by scores of 3-6, 6-2 and 0-1 (10-3)
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 2 when they travel to Tiffin for an OAC match against Heidelberg University on the Heidelberg Tennis Courts at 1 p.m. BW returns to friendly confines of the Pop Collins Tennis Courts on April 6 when it hosts an OAC match against the University of Mount Union at 3:30 p.m.
