Men’s Tennis Continues Winning Ways against St. John Fisher (N.Y.)

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team gets another victory in a non-conference match against St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College by a final score of 6-3 at the Evian Tennis Courts.

Doubles (BW, 2-1)

  • In the first match of the afternoon the No. 1 duo of junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) got BW's (7-1) first point of the match as they won 8-1 over Jordan O'Connell and Cameron Campbell.
  • In the No. 2 match, St. John Fisher (2-4) got their first point of the match after Sean Danahy and Jake Anthony beat junior All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) by a score of 8-6).
  • In No. 3 doubles, freshmen Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) secured the early advantage for the Yellow Jackets as they cruised to an 8-2 victory over Zach Decaro and Andrew Cegielski.

Singles (BW, 6-3)

  • McGee got the singles scoring started as he ran away with a victory of Danahy with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
  • In a battle at No. 2 singles, Kernan pulled off a big three sets victory over Anthony Molosag by scores of 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-7).
  • Hicks cruised to another victory at the No. 3 spot with a win over Kyle Gorman by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
  • In what proved to be the match clinching victory, Tosatto took down Campbell at No. 4 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
  • The Cardinals got their first point of the singles portion of the match at No. 5 when Anthony took down Zeidler by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
  • In the final match of the evening, freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) dropped a close match to O' Connell by scores of 6-0, 7-5.

BW finishes their Spring Break trip on Friday, March 11th with a non-conference match against Albion (Mich.) College at the Shipyard Racquet Club at 1:00 p.m.
