Men’s Tennis Falls to Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team went on the road to face Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Ohio Northern University and fell by a match score of 9-0 on the University Courts.

With the defeat, Baldwin Wallace falls to 10-4 (1-2 OAC) and Ohio Northern improves to 18-4 (4-0 OAC).

Doubles (ONU 3-0)

  • The No. 1 doubles was match was taken by Vinh Thai and Matt Garcia, defeating freshman Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and junior Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) by a score of 8-0
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Anthony Tosatto (Creston/Norwayne) and freshman Caleb Reed (Wilmington) fell to Andrew Cochran and Peyton Specht in the No. 2 doubles match by a score of 8-1/
  • In the No. 3 doubles match, freshman Aidan Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and freshman Adam Zeidler (Bay Village/Bay) were defeated by Zach Beashcler and Drew Swisher by a score of 8-5.

Singles (ONU 9-0)

  • McGee faced Cochran in the No. 1 singles match, and fell by set scores of 6-2 and 6-1
  • In the No. 2 singles match, Kernan lost to Thai by a scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
  • Sam Sran took the No. 3 singles match, defeating BW's Hicks 6-1 and 6-0.
  • In the No. 4 singles match, Tosatto faced Tristen Munteanu and fell by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
  • Zeidler faced Spect in the No. 5 singles match and fell by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
  • Freshman Jack Hindman (Avon) faced Zach Beaschler in the No. 6 singles match and was defeated by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, April 23, as they are back on the road to face OAC opponent Marietta University. The action starts at 1 p.m. at the Beren Tennis Center.
