Swimming & Diving Teams Win at Defiance

DEFIANCE, OHIO--
The Baldwin-Wallace College men's swimming and diving teams defeated host Defiance University today (Friday, November 11, 2011) in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Yellow Jacket men defeated Defiance, 78-43. With the wins, the B-W men are now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by junior Chris Tuttle (North Royalton) who won both the men's 400-yard Individual medley and  the 100-yard backstroke. Tuttle's medley time was 4:44.59 and his backstroke time was 1:02.79. Senior Nic Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peters) won the men's 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.32 and helped the men's 200-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay teams win its races. The 200 free relay team of Null, junior Tony Tijerina (Defiance/ Napoleon), sophomore Ryan Stover (Napoleon), and junior Matt Zych (Des Plaines, Ill./ Maine West) won the event in a team time of 45.89 seconds. The 200 medley relay team consisting of Null, Stover, freshman Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia), and sophomore Patrick Donohoe (Columbus/ Bishop Watterson) also came out on top in 1:47.05.

In addition, Donohoe went on to place first in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:02.68, Tijerina won the men's 1-meter diving competition scoring 211.4 points and Zych won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.03.

The Yellow Jackets return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12 when they host Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College in the B-W Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
