BW Men’s Golfers Finish Fourth at Mount Union Fall Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished fourth of seven teams at the two-day and 36-hole University of Mount Union Fall Invitational Tournament. The first round was held at the Tannenhauf Golf Course and today's final round was played at the Alliance Country Club.

BW carded an 18-hole total of 302 strokes in the first round on the par-72 and 6,694-yard Tannenhauf G.C. layout and had 306 strokes in today's second round on the par-70 and 6,411-yard Alliance C.C. layout. The Yellow Jackets totalled 608 strokes for the two-day event.  John Carroll was the team champion with a total of 591 followed by Mount Union with 595 and Mount St. Joseph with 606.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/Fairview) who shot rounds of 73 and 76 for a two-round total of 149 to place sixth out of 60 golfers.  Freshmen Scott Schroeder (Aurora) and Matt Kershner (Independence) were second as both finished tied for 11th with a two-day total of 152.   Schroeder had rounds of 79 and 73 and Kershner fired 75 and 77.  Senior Stephen Spalding (Stow/Walsh Jesuit)  was fourth on the team with rounds of 75 and 82 for a total of 157.   Rounding out the five man squad was senior Augie Ward (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) who fired rounds of 79 and 80 on each day for a total of 159.

Playing as an individual, junior Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/Medina Highland) fired rounds of 82 and 81 for a two-round total of  163.  Freshman Austin Griffith (Barberton) had rounds of 83 and 84 for a total of 157 strokes and was closely followed by senior Chris Nader (Westlake) with a two-day total of 168 after rounds of 87 and 81.  Junior Andy Ingram (Vermilion) shot 87 and 86 for a 173 and sophomore Connor Duplin (North Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) shot 90 each day for a total of 180.

 The Yellow Jackets will end their fall season on Sunday, October 6 when they travel to West Lafayette to compete at the John Carroll University Tri-Match at the River Greens Golf Club.
