BW Men’s Golfers Finish Second at Capital Fall Invitational

GALENA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished second of eight teams at 2013 Capital University Fall Invitational Tournament at the Royal American Links.

BW carded a 36-hole total of 617 with a first-round total of 316 and a second-round total of 301 on the par-72 and 6,859-yard layout. Madonna University (Mich.) won the invitational with a total of 602 strokes. Benjamin Gawronski of Madonna was the medalist with a 36-hole total of 148.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Scott Schroeder (Aurora) with rounds of 79 and 73 for a total of 152 to finish tied for sixth individually. Senior Stephen Spalding (Stow/Walsh Jesuit) shot rounds of 76 and 77 for a total of 153 to finish tied for ninth individually. Junior Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/Fairview) shot rounds of 83 and 76 for a 159 and senior Augie Ward (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) added rounds of 78 and 82 for a 160. Rounding out the five man squad was freshman Matt Kershner (Independence) who fired rounds of 85 and 75 for a total of 160.

BW next plays on Sunday and Monday, September 29-30 at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational Tournament at the Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance.
