WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished third of six teams the John Carroll University Fall Invitational Tournament at the River Greens Golf Club. This was the final fall event for the Yellow Jackets.
BW carded a 27-hole total of 450 strokes on the par-72 and 6,600-yard River Greens layout to place third as a team. John Carroll was the team champion with 443 strokes.
The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Scott Schroeder (Aurora) who shot an 18-hole round of 74 and a 9-hole round of 36 for a total of 110. Senior Stephen Spaulding (Stow/Walsh Jesuit) shot an 18-hole round of 70 and a 9-hole round of 42 for a total of 112. Junior Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/ Fairview) and freshman Matt Kershner (Independence) each shot identical rounds of 77 and 37 for a total of 114. Rounding out the five man squad was senior Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) who shot an 18-hole round of 78 and a 9-hole round of 42 for a total of 120.
Playing as individuals, junior Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/ Medina Highland) shot an 18-hole round of 82 and a 9-hole round of 41 for a total of 123. Freshman Mike Devine (Richfield/Revere) had rounds of 79 and 43 for a total of 122 strokes and was closely followed by freshman Colin Greig (Willoughby/ South) with a total of 123 after rounds of 78 and 45. Freshman Austin Griffith (Barberton) shot 77 and 42 for a total of 119 and senior Chris Nader (Westlake) totaled a 115 after rounds of 76 and 39.
The Yellow Jackets will resume the 2013-2014 season in the spring of 2014 when they make their annual spring break trip.
