BW Men’s Golfers Finish Sixth at OWU Strimer Tourney

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished sixth of 15 teams at the two-day and 36-hole annual Strimer Memorial Tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the Oakhaven Golf Club.

BW (37-20 overall record) carded rounds of 308 and 304 strokes on the par-71 and 6,862-yard Oakhaven G.C.  layout.

In the first round, BW was led by freshman Matt Kershner (Independence) with an opening round of 76.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Stephen Spalding (Stow/ Walsh Jesuit) and junior Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/ Fairview)  were one stroke behind as each had a round of 77.  Freshman Scott Schroeder (Aurora) was two strokes behind Kershner with a day one round of 78.  Senior Augie Ward (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) rounded out the opening round with an 80. The Yellow Jackets were in eighth place after the first round.

In the second round, Spadling led the Yellow Jackets with a score of 73 for a weekend total of 150. Kershner carded a final round of 76 to finish two strokes behind Spalding with a 152. Sanders shot a final round of 77 for a total of 154. Ward carded a final round of 78 for a two day total of 158. Schroeder rounded out the BW golfers with a final round of 84 for a 162.

BW returns to action on April 13-14 when they compete at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Invitational Tournament, hosted by Capital University at the Royal American Links course in Galena, Ohio.
