AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior pitcher Logan Heffernan (Lebanon) and senior All-OAC centerfielder Cole Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius) were named the Ohio Athletic Conference baseball players of the week for their strong performances over the past two weekends.

Heffernan and Nieto have led BW to a 5-0 record with a pair victory against Anderson (Ind.) College, a single game victory versus Juniata (Pa.) College and a two game sweep of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

Heffernan, who earns his first OAC Pitcher of the Week honor, pitched 10 innings with 13 strikeouts and did not surrender a run in his two outings. In his career he has pitched 129 innings, made 21 starts and has an earned runs average (ERA) of 4.26.

Nieto, who earned his second OAC Hitter of the Week honor, opening two weekends were highlighted by his cycle in game two of a sweep of Pitt.-Bradford. The cycle is the fourth in school history and the first since Mike Farrell did in 2005. This season Nieto is hitting .333 with a slugging percentage of .857 and an on base percentage of .423. In his career, he has played in 105 games, has a batting average of .339 and a slugging percentage of .553.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Fort Myers, Florida for its annual spring trip where it will face Elms (Mass.) College on Saturday, March 4 in a non-conference doubleheader on inside Terry Park. Game one will start at 9 a.m. and game two is slated for 12 p.m.
