AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball student-athletes earn All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.

Senior first baseman Kevin Hagen (Brecksville/St. Ignatius), senior designated hitter Cole Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius), junior starting pitcher Evan Lovick (Mentor) and junior right fielder Alex Marcum (Granville) each earned first-team honors. Junior third baseman Spencer Badia (Bellaire) and junior catcher Trent Kaltenbach (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) landed on the second-team. Senior starting pitcher Logan Heffernan (Lebanon) was an honorable mention.
Hagen, who garners his first All-OAC accolade, had a career-best season as he had a team-high tying batting average of .347, on-base percentage of .388 and a slugging percentage of .468. He tallied a career-high nine doubles, two home runs and batted in a career-high 24 runs. In the field, he had a team-high 318 putouts and a fielding percentage of .980. Over the last two seasons, Hagen batted .313, had an on-base percentage of .357 and a slugging percentage of .419 with 44 RBIs.
Nieto, who earns his third All-OAC honor, as he was named to the second-team as a sophomore and an honorable mention in 2016. This season, he had a batting average of .345, on-base percentage .411 and team-best slugging percentage of .593. Nieto tallied a team-high 13 doubles and seven home runs with 32 RBIs and a career-high 10 stolen bases. He put himself in the BW record books this year as he hit the school's first cycle since 2005 in a victory against the University Pittsburg Greensburg. Nieto also was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District 7 team and is eligible for the All-America ballot. He finished his career with a batting average of .341, on-base percentage of .399 and a slugging percentage of .552. Nieto has tallied 109 RBIs, 43 doubles and 17 homeruns.
Lovick, who garners his third overall All-OAC accolade, after being named a first-team selection in 2016 and was an honorable mention as a freshman tied a BW single season school record with eight wins this season. He recorded a career-high 49 strikeouts and finished the year with a 2.47 earned runs average (ERA). Over the last three seasons, he has pitched 167.2 innings for the Yellow Jackets and is 16-4 with 103 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.52.
Marcum earns his first All-OAC honor this season. He finished the year with a team-high tying batting average of .347, had an on-base percentage of .415 and a slugging percentage of .528. Marcum tallied a team-high 41 RBIs with nine doubles and five homeruns. In his career, he is batting .309, has an on-base percentage of .379 and a slugging percentage of .441 with 23 doubles, six homeruns and 81 RBIs.
Badia garners his first All-OAC accolade. This season he had a .323 batting average, an on-base percentage of .405 and slugging percentage of .534. Badia was second on the team with six homeruns, hit eight doubles and batted in 27 runs. Earlier this year, Badia was also named earned CoSIDA All-District 7 honors along with Nieto. Over the last three seasons, he has a batting average of .304, on-base percentage of .415 and a slugging percentage of .480. Badia has tallied 21 RBIs, 11 homeruns and 63 RBIs in his career.
Kaltenbach earns his first All-OAC honor after a strong junior campaign. He had a career-best batting average of .345, an one-base percentage .399, a slugging percentage of .408 and batted in a career-high 20 runs. Behind the plate, Kaltenbach had a fielding percentage .982 and was second on the team with 244 put outs. In his career, he has a batting average of .288, on-base percentage of .361 and a slugging percentage of .373. Kaltenbach has a fielding percentage of .980 and 638 putouts behind the plate.
Heffernan garners his first All-OAC accolade. The four-year starter had career-best year as he won five games, struck out 43 batters and ended the year with a team-best ERA of 2.32. Over the last four seasons, he has a record of 15-9 with 138 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.89.
BW finished the year with an overall record of 22-17 and an OAC record of 10-8.
