Badia and Nieto Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior outfielder Cole Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius) and junior third baseman Spencer Badia (Bellaire) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) District 7 All-District Team. Nieto and Badia now qualify for the CoSIDA Division III All-America ballot.

Nieto is a finance and management major who carries a 3.66 grade point average (GPA) and is a Dean's List student. This season he is batting .346, has an on-base percentage of .403 and a slugging percentage of .592. Nieto has hit a career-high and team-high tying six home runs and team-high 12 doubles with 20 runs batted in (RBI). In his career, Nieto is a two-time All-OAC selection as he has batted .341 with an on base percentage of .396 and a slugging percentage of .550. He has tallied 42 doubles, 16 home runs and seven triples with 107 RBIs.

Badia, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 4.0 GPA. He is also a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. This year, Badia is batting .323 with an on base percentage of .405 and a slugging percentage of .534. He has hit a career-high six home runs, eight doubles and has batted in 27 runs. Over the past three years, Badia has a batting average of .304, an on base percentage of .415 and a slugging percentage of .480. He has tallied 21 doubles and 11 homeruns with 63 RBIs.

BW is back in action today at it travels to Isle, Illinois for a non-conference doubleheader against Benedictine, Illinois inside the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. Game one starts at 2 p.m. and game two is slated for 5 p.m.
