Baseball Falls to Allegheny (Pa.) in Non-Conference Play

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was defeated by Allegheny (Pa.) College by a score of 6-4 in a non-conference game on Fisher Field.

BW (13-8) scored four runs on five hits as it scored one run in the sixth and freshman second baseman Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) closed out the scoring with a three-run homer in the seventh. Allegheny (13-6) scored one run in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Offensively Bonner led the way as he went one-for-one with three runs batted in (RBI). In addition, junior third baseman Spencer Badia (Bellaire) went two-for-four with a double.

On the bump, freshman Spencer Aukerman (Medina) was credited with the loss as he put in six innings of work, allowed four earned runs and struck out two batters. Sophomores Dominic Francis (Medina/Brunswick) and Jack Raines (Uniontown/Akron Archbishop Hoban) came in out of the bullpen. Francis faced two batters and allowed one hit. Raines pitched three strong innings as he only allowed one hit and and struck out one Gator batter.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, April 5 when they host Adrian (Mich.) College in a non-conference game on Fisher Field starting at 4 p.m. Fan's can follow the action at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/x/i9bwz
