Women's Soccer Picked Fifth in 2023 OAC Preseason Poll

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team has been selected to finish fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked to finish fourth in the preseason polls last season, is tabbed fifth this year with a total of 49 points. Capital University was the first-place choice with seven first-place votes and 78 total points after finishing as the 2022 OAC runner-up. The defending conference champion Ohio Northern University sits at second with 71 points and two first-place votes. Otterbein University also received a first-place vote but was predicted to finish third with 66 points. Just ahead of the Yellow Jackets sits John Carroll University at fourth place with 53 points.

The Yellow Jackets and Head Coach Jim Wojtkun, who is in his seventh season, return eighteen letterwinners, two All-Ohio Athletic Conference players and ten Academic All-OAC selections from last season. The team posted an overall record of 9-9-1 and a 4-4-1 record in the conference on its way to an OAC tournament appearance. 

The Yellow Jackets open the 2023 campaign on September 2 and 3 at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament in Erie, Pa. where they will take on non-conference opponents Penn State-Behrend and Fredonia (N.Y.). BW will host Oberlin College on Tuesday, September 5 for the 2023 home opener.
