Women's Soccer Takes Down Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Heidelberg University by a score of 1-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.   

Tonight's game was a close one with the game remaining scoreless throughout the first half despite both teams fighting to jump on the board with a combined 11 shots. It was not until the second half that freshman midfielder Grace Helmke (Manchester, Mich.) tipped the scale in the Yellow Jacket's favor with the one and only goal of the game giving Baldwin Wallace the 1-0 victory. 

BW Leaders (8-6-1, 4-2 OAC)

  • Helmke scored in her second straight game as well as recording two shots on goal 

  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Ahletic Conference goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center / Olentangy) had a total of six saves throughout a full 90 minutes 

  • Senior All-OAC forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) had two shots on goal 

Heidelburg Leaders (4-7-2, 2-4 OAC)

  • Senior midfielder Madi Lause had a total of four shots: two of those being on goal 

  • Sophomore defender Syd Hewer tallied four notable shots 

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Bridgid Enright played fifty-seven minutes and recorded two saves 

 

The Baldwin Wallace women's soccer team take the field again on Saturday, October 24th travelling to Westerville to face the opposing Heidelburg at Memorial Stadium.
