Eight Baldwin-Wallace Soccer Student-Athletes Named 2008 Academic All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO - Eight players from the 2008 Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's soccer teams were named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference squad announced today (Wednesday, November 19, 2008). B-W's eight selections were more than any other school in the OAC. 

Women's academic all-conference picks were senior and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnifcat) and junior ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea). Honorable mention picks for the Yellow Jacket women were sophomore Academic All-District IV midfielder Liz Rice (Wooster/Triway) and junior Academic All-District IV defender Tyler Fridley (Niles/McKinley) as well as sophomore defender Elizabeth Reinbrecht (Slyvania/Toledo St. Ursula).

On the men's side, senior Academic All-District IV midfielders Michael Grater (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Cory Kovach (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) were named Academic All-OAC and senior defender Mitch Keidan (Blacklick/Gahanna Lincoln) was named honorable mention. 

Wojtkun, who carries a 3.98 grade point average in human resource management,  is a two-time first-teamESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV student-athlete,  a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player and a two-time  Academic All-OAC selection.  Geiger, a criminal justice and chemistry double-major with a 3.62 grade point average, has started every game in her career and was named a first-team All-OAC player in 2008. Fridley (3.69 grade average in public relations and marketing) is one of the OAC's top defenders and a three-year starter.  Rice (3.75 grade average in middle childhood education) played in all 19 games this season and picked up an assist. Reinbrecht (3.79 grade average in film studies) played in 14 games this season after missing her entire freshman year due to injury. 

Grater (3.74 grade average in finance and accounting) was a 2007 All-OAC player and is now a two-time Academic All-OAC selection. He was one of the top defenders in the OAC this season and tallied four assists in 18 games for the 12-5-1 overall Yellow Jackets. Kovach (3.59 grade average in finance and marketing), like Grater, was a four-year starter and a key to the B-W offense. The 2007 All-OAC player was fourth on the team in scoring with five goals for 10 points and second in shots taken with 25. Keidan (3.59 grade average in business administration and sport management) started all 19 games for the Jacket defense and tallied one assist.
