Women's Soccer Team Loses to John Carroll, 2-0, in University Heights

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University, 2-0, tonight (Wednesday, October 29, 2008) on Wasmer Field at Don Shula Stadium in University Heights.

With its loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped to 7-7-3 overall and 4-4 in the OAC with one game remaining during the OAC regular season. With its win, JCU improved to 10-4-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the OAC.

John Carroll opened the scoring at the 1:59 mark when Caitlin Walton connected on a pass from Aleks Quenneville.  Neither team was able to score again until the 62:01 mark when John Carroll's Colleen Harmon gave the Blue Streak a 2-0 lead off an assist from Rachel Grdina.  The Yellow Jackets fought hard throughout the remainder of the contest but were unable to cut into JCU's lead.

In goal for B-W, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) faced 21 Blue Streak shots, allowed two goals and made eight saves.

John Carroll won the battle of shots, 21-7, and corner kicks, 8-6.

B-W returns to action on Saturday, November 1 when it travel to Wilmington, Ohio to play Wilmington College at 7:00 p.m.  The 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 4.
