Women's Soccer Team Falls, 3-0, to Wilmington in OAC Tournament Action in Wilmington

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team fell, 3-0, to Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match tonight (Tuesday, November 4, 2008) at Gilhart Field in Wilmington.

With the loss, B-W ends the season at 7-9-3 overall.  With the win, Wilmington improves to 15-5-0 and will play No. 2 seed Ohio Northern University at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 6) at the ONU Soccer Field in Ada.  Fans can access all of the latest OAC Tournament information athttp://www.oac.org/WOMENsoccerTournament.shtml

The first half ended with a 0-0 tie setting up a crucial second half of play.  Wilmington struck at the 49:40 mark with a goal from a Katie Skaleski header via an assist from Ashley Garcia. The second goal closely followed at the 55:33 mark in the form of another header, this time from Brittany Beck off of an Alex Hesson assist.  The Quakers locked up the match when the ball was accidently misdirected off of a Yellow Jacket defender into the back of the BW net. 

WC won the battle of shots 16-6 and corner kicks 8-4.

In goal, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves while giving up three goals in the season finale.

The final 2008 scoring leaders find senior All-OAC Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) first on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points.  Three players were tied for second with three goals a piece, junior forward Natalie Fox (Canfield), freshman forward Noelle Fox (Canfield), and sophomore midfielder Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney).

Miner finished the season with 124 saves and five shutouts.
