Women's Soccer Team Beats Mt. Union, 1-0, in Alliance in OAC Opener

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team beat Mount Union College, 1-0, today (Saturday, October 4, 2008) at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for each team.

With its win, B-W is now 4-3-3 overall and 1-0 in the OAC and next plays on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when it hosts Heidelberg College in an OAC match at 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field pitch at The George Finnie Stadium.  With its loss, Mt. Union is now 3-6-1 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.

Mt. Union won the battle of shots, 17-12. B-W won the battle of corner kicks, 7-1.

B-W scored the only goal of the match at the 25:22 mark of the match when senior midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea) tallied off of an assist from freshman forward Brittany Thomas (Westerville/ Central).

In goal, Yellow Jacket sophomore keeper Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes, faced 17 Mt. Union shots and recorded 10 saves and recorded her third shutout of the season.
