Women's Soccer Team Beats Heidelberg, 2-0, in Berea to go 2-0 in the OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team beat Heidelberg College, 2-0, tonight (Tuesday, October 7, 2008) on the pitch of Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea in an Ohio Athletic Conference game.

With its win, B-W is now 5-3-3 overall and 2-0 in the OAC. With its loss, Heidelberg is now 4-5-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the OAC.

B-W won the battle of shots, 30-7, and corner kicks, 5-3.

The Yellow Jackets gained a 1-0 lead at the 17:44 mark of the match when sophomore midfielder Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/South) found the back of the net with an assist from sophomore midfielder Amanda Vitello (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney).  B-W would extend its lead to 2-0 just six minutes later when freshman forward Brittany Thomas (Westerville/Central) scored on a pass from senior midfielder Maddy Davis (Hudson) at the 23:40 mark. 

In goal, Yellow Jacket sophomore keeper Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes, faced seven Heidelberg shots and recorded five saves.  Miner recorded fourth shoutout on the season and second in as many contests. 

B-W is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11  at 1:00 p.m. when it travels to Westerville to take on Otterbein College in an OAC match.
