Women's Soccer Team Defeats Oberlin College, 2-0, in Oberlin

BEREA, OHIO - Sophomore midfielder Vickie Dreiling (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) scored two goals today as the Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Oberlin College, 2-0, today (Wednesday, September 10, 2008) in a non-league contest in Oberlin, Ohio.

 With the win, B-W improves to 1-1-1 overall and with the loss, Oberlin falls to 2-1-1 overall.

 After a scoreless first half, Dreiling opened the game's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 54:11 mark. The game remained 1-0 in favor of B-W for much of the second half until Dreiling added her second goal of the day at the 88:49 mark via an assist from freshman midfielder Brittany Thomas (Westerville/Central).

 B-W won the shot battle 19-11 and had 11 shots on goal, compared to Oberlin's four.

 In goal, B-W sophomore goalkeeper Becky Miner (Berea) played all  90 minutes, made four saves and recorded her first shutout of the year for the Yellow Jackets.

 The next Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer match is this Saturday, September 13, as the Yellow Jackets host Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University in the first game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader.  The B-W men host Grove City (Pa.) College at 7:00 in the home opener for both teams.  This Saturday is also B-W soccer Alumni Day.
