Women's Soccer Team Defeats Hiram College, 1-0, in Hiram

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Hiram College, 1-0, today (Wednesday, September 17, 2008) in a non-league match at the Hiram Soccer Complex in Hiram.

With its win, B-W is now 2-2-1 overall and plays next this Sunday, Sept. 21 when it travels to Adrian, Michigan to play Adrian College  at 4:00 p.m. in a rescheduled game. With its loss, Hiram is now 2-4 overall.

B-W jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 23:28 mark of the first half when senior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored unassisted. That goal would be the only one of the game as B-W held off the Terriers for their second win of the year.  The Yellow Jackets won the shot battle 14-10, with senior midfielderMaddy Davis (Hudson) leading the way with five.

In goal, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes and had six saves for the shutout, her second of the year. 

After this Sunday's game Adrian, the B-W women will be back home next Tuesday (September 23) as they host Grove City (Pa.) College at 7:00 pm.
