Women's Soccer Team Falls to CWRU on Alumni Day in Berea

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team fell by a score of 3-1 to Case Western Reserve University today (Saturday, September 13, 2008), on Alumni Day on the newly installed FieldTurf on Tressel Field pitch at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. The match was the opener of a women's and men's doubleheader.

With the loss, B-W is now 1-2-1 overall and next plays on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when it travels to Hiram to play Hiram College at 5:00 p.m. With its win, Case is now 4-1 overall.

B-W fell behind late in the first half as Case Western Reserve's Ana Aruda and Jen Soo Hoo scored with 19:18 and 14:07 left on the clock, respectively. The Spartans added another goal from Kristina Vaci at the 38:26 mark and held the Yellow Jackets to just one shot in the first period.

The Jackets got on the board after intermission when senior midfielder Maddy Davis (Hudson) scored unassisted at 49:56 of the second half but were unable to get any closer as Case held on 3-1.

In goal, sophomore keeper Becky Miner (Berea) recorded one save to run her season total to a team-high 21.

At four matches, sophomore forward Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) leads the team in scoring with three goals for six total points.

 The Yellow Jackets return to action at the OAC-MIAA Shootout next weekend. B-W plays Calvin (Mich.) College on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and then plays Albion (Mich.) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
