Women Tie St. Vincent (Pa.), 1-1 in Two Overtimes, in Latrobe

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team tied St. Vincent College of Pennsylvania, 1-1 in double overtime, today (Tuesday, September 30, 2008) in Latrobe, Pa. This was the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader. The B-W and St. Vincent men play at 4:30 p.m.

With its tie, B-W is now 3-3-3 overall and next plays on Saturday, October 4 when it travels to Alliance, Ohio to open Ohio Athletic Conference action against the Mount Union College Purple Raiders in Mt. Union Stadium at 1:00 p.m.  With its tie, St. Vincent is now 3-5-2 overall.

B-W won the battle of shots, 29-20, and corner kicks, 6-3.

St. Vincent gained a 1-0 lead at the 5:50 mark of the match when Kylie Simonini scored her sixth goal of the season with an assist from Michelle Stepien. The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 1-1 at the 14:08 mark when junior forward Natlie Fox (Canfield) scored an unassisted goal when she controlled a rebound right in front of the goal and beat St. Vincent goalie Kristie Mills.

In goal, Yellow Jacket sophomore keeper Becky Miner (Berea) faced 20 St. Vincent shots and recorded 10 saves in 90 minutes of action. Mills faced 29 BW shots and made 12 saves.

After nine matches this season, Fox leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. Sophomore forward Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/ Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) and senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat) are tied for second as each has three goals and six points. In goal, Miner has played 870 total minutes, has faced 118 shots, allowed 1.24 goals per game with an .812 save percentage with 54 saves and two shutouts.

Overall, the Yelow Jackets have outshot their opponents, 123-118, but trail in corner kicks, 46-40.

Following its game at Mt. Union this Saturday, B-W is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when it hosts Heidelberg College in an OAC match on the Tressel Field pitch in The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
