NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team defeated Hunter (N.Y.) College, 37-9,in a dual match at the Hunter Sportsplex. BW is now 3-0 in dual matches.

Leading the way were sophomore 149-pounder Joe Schmidt (Hinckley/Brunswick), sophomore 165-pounder David Shapiro (Beachwood) and sophomore 174-pounder Ben LeBrun (Strongsville) all won by pin. Senior 141-pounder Andrew Taylor (Columbus/ orthington Kilbourne) won by major decision and sophomore All-OAC 125-pounder Jesse Gunter (Akron/ Coventry), sophomore 157-pounder Garrett Chase (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and freshman 184-pounder Andrew Shackelford (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) all won by decision.  Freshman 197-pounder Kenny Faulkner (Beliot/West Branch) won by forfeit.

Gunter's win at 125 pounds improved his record to 9-0 this season, Taylor is now 10-7, Schmidt is now 12-7, Chase is now 13-1, Shapiro is now 15-5, LeBrun is 13-3, Shackelford is now 9-4 and Faulkner is 2-2 overall.

The Yellow Jackets are now idle until after the New Year's holiday. The next competition is on Saturday, January 4, 2015 at the Waynesburg (Pa.) University Tournament. Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
