BW Wrestlers Compete at W&J Tournament

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team competed at the annual Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College Invitational in the Henry Center.

Leading the way was sophomore 157-pounder Garret Chase (Erie, Pa./ Cathedral Prep) who won his second straight invitational title.  At W&J, Chase had a 4-0 mark and improved to 7-0 this season. The third-seed beat Brendan Collins of Thiel (Pa.) College, 5-1, in his first match; defeated Dan Bruni of Waynesburg (Pa.) University, 12-0 by medical default, in the quarterfinals; received a forfeit in the semifinals; and topped Zach Vojtek of Seton Hall (Pa.) University, 7-5 in sudden victory, in the championship match.

In addition to Chase, sophomore 197-pounder Lane Louvie (Massillon/ Washington) had a 5-1 record and placed third and sophomore 174-pounder Ben LeBrun (Strongsville) had a 4-1 mark and placed fifth.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, November 16 when they travel to Ashland to compete in the Harris Open hosted by Ashland University at 10 a.m. The next home event is on Saturday, November 23 when BW hosts both Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University and Manchester (Ind.) University in a tri-match in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. BW faces Manchester at 2 p.m. and Case at 4 p.m.
