BEREA, Ohio --  Baldwin Wallace University sophomore 285-pounder Joe Belford (Berea/St. Edward) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.

Belford earned his honor for a 3-0 record at last Friday's Thiel (Pa.) College Mel Berry Duals. He had two pins and a 5-1 win by decision as the Yellow Jackets beat No. 24-ranked Thiel and Mercyhurst (Pa.) North East but lost to Lycoming (Pa.) College.

A year ago, Belford had 22 wins and a 22-18 mark as a starter as a freshman.  He has a 3-0 mark this winter.

Belford and the Yellow Jackets, 5-2 in dual matches, return to the mats this Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 at the Wheaton (Ill.) College Tournament. Action begins each day at 9:00 a.m.

Next week, Belford and the Jackets host an OAC dual match versus Muskingum University on Tuesday, February 4 in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center. On Saturday, Feb. 8, BW hosts the 28th Annual John Summa Memorial Tournament in the Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10:00 a.m.
